Savoie Welcomes Conservation Voters Endorsement

VICTORIA - Victoria NDP candidate Denise Savoie welcomed her endorsement by the Conservation Voters of BC (CVBC), announced yesterday.

CVBC is a non-partisan group that holds BC politicians accountable to the strong environmental values of the BC public, and endorses environmentally-minded candidates for public office.

"I'm honoured that the Conservation Voters of BC have recognized my long-standing commitment to environmental issues," said Savoie. "Voters tell me they want federal leadership on key priorities like climate change and sewage treatment, and they are tired of more talk with no action from the Liberals."

Savoie is a founding member of the Greater Victoria Cycling Coalition and worked to establish the Selkirk Trestle and Galloping Goose Trail. On Victoria City Council, Savoie led the development of the Greenways strategy and set world-class environmental standards for the new Dockside Green development.

"Leading environmentalists say the NDP"s environmental plan sets the standard for other parties to follow," said Savoie. "Jack Layton has proven the NDP can get things done to improve public transit, and increase green infrastructure funding for cities like Victoria."
